The cheapest station is almost never the one worth going to.
Six cents less per litre is two euros forty on a full tank. Six kilometres of detour and eleven minutes in traffic eat all of it, and a little more. FuelPilot does that sum for you, before you turn the wheel.
How it works
You say where you're going. FuelPilot tells you where to stop and what you actually gain: not the price per litre, but what stays in your pocket once the detour is paid for in fuel, in time and in tolls.
Every station gets a score from 0 to 100 that holds together price, real detour, how freely the road runs, services and how fresh the data is. A station that is closed, behind you or on the opposite carriageway does not get a low score: it disappears from the list, because it is not a worse alternative — it is not an alternative.
Where the prices come from
Prices and the station registry are open data published by the Italian Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy: every operator is required by law to report its own prices. Every price shows when it was reported, and reports older than thirty days do not enter the calculation.
Your location stays yours. FuelPilot reads where you are only while the app is open on the results: as you drive the list updates itself, because a station you have already passed is no longer an alternative. Never in the background, and nothing is kept: there is no history of your journeys.
